Auditions are set Aug. 30 and 31 at 7 pm each evening at Crooked Creek Park, 1098 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin, SC 29036-9334. The show will run Nov. 12-13, 18-21, and Dec. 2-4 (dark on Thanksgiving weekend).

To be directed by Glenn Farr, A Nice Family Gathering is a gently comic tale of the Lundeens, a mildly dysfunctional Minnesota family, as they convene for Thanksgiving. Middle son Carl returns to the fold just in time to take responsibility for a number of crises, ranging from his brother's financial problems to the big secret his unmarried sister's dying to tell--if only anyone else will pay her any attention. Add in the difficulties of Carl's relationship with his father and a creepy gigolo vying for the attentions of his mother and you have the ingredients for a family Thanksgiving to remember.

The show offers the following roles and age ranges:
Carl, the middle brother--30's-40's
Mom--60's
Dad--60's
Michael, the older brother--30's-40's
Jill, Michael's wife--20's-30's
Stacy, the younger sister--20's-30's
Jerry, the gentleman caller--50's-60's
Mrs. Enquist, the neighbor (voice from off stage, only)--60's

Because the play takes place in Minnesota, the ability to affect a Minnesota or general upper Midwest American accent is desirable. The accents featured in the skits on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion would be good examples of what will work best for this material (fer shur, you betcha!). All actors auditioning will participate in cold readings from the script.
