Nobody’s ever seen a Dracula this funny. Five actors play dozens of zany characters in a madcap take on the classic tale that’s guaranteed to induce blood-curdling screams – of laughter!
From the English countryside to Dracula’s castle in Transylvania. 1890s.
George Dinsmore, the fang-tastic director of "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors", brings his electrifying flair back to Chapin Theatre Company! A versatile performer and director, George has dazzled as Benedick in "Much Ado About Nothing," Stacee Jaxx in "Rock of Ages," and Sherlock Holmes in "Hound of the Baskervilles." He is also a company member of the SC Shakespeare Company. Voted Columbia’s Sexiest IT Guy, he’s emceed Blowfish Baseball for eight seasons and the 10 Minute-ish Play Festival for five. His credits span film (Faith's Song), TV (Secrets in Plain Sight), and voiceovers. This November, catch him reprising his role in the heartwarming "It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play." With his passion for theatre, razor-sharp wit, and knack for quick-change chaos, George is the perfect maestro for this hilarious, gender-bending vampire spoof. Offstage, he’s likely strumming his guitar or outrunning Transylvanian wolves! GeorgeDinsmore.com
Debra Kiser (Van Helsing and Mina Westfeldt) This is Debra’s sixth year performing at Chapin Theatre Company. She previously appeared as Queen Aggravain in "Once Upon a Mattress" and as Grace, the drunk murderess, in Chapin's10 minute Play Festival, "Taking Care of Business", where she was voted Favorite Actress. Debra feels she is now in her "Cloris Leachman years" by playing these two different characters in Dracula. She has always enjoyed doing different accents and Dr. Van Helsing allows her to do her German accent for the first time on stage. When not appearing on stage, she enjoys entertaining with family and friends.
Katie Mixon (Lucy Westfeldt, Kitty Rutherforfd, and Carriage Driver) feels like it was love at first bite when she first read for Actor 3; a role she can really sink her teeth into! Katie has many passions in her life - theatre, animals, travel and learning. She is a teacher for The SC Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities and Newberry College,Company Member at SC Shakespeare, and Actor-Manager for Elsewhere Shakespeare. Katie was one of the founders of Sappraiwan Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand–managing humane and enriching care for senior Asian Elephants. Katie has her masters in Classical Theatre from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Some of Katie’s favorite roles have been: Beatrice, Lady MacBeth, & Rosalind for the SCSC, Sandra in The Play That Goes Wrong at Town Theatre, Polonius for Elsewhere Shakespeare, Suze in Fairview at TRUSTUS, and Veta Louise in Harvey at Workshop. Katie was voted Best Actress in Columbia 2023. To George, for trusting her in this role she says, "Fang you. Fang you very much!" KatieMixon.com
