Jill Brantley (Properties) Jill is happy to be back at Chapin after working on props for Mary Poppins! She was last seen on stage in How to Supervise Women (Millie Kram). She works for the SC House of Representatives and watches too many movies in her free time. Hope you enjoy the show!
Nathan Dawson (Orderly/Moriarty/Inspector): This is the third time Nathan has been in a “Holmes” show – the first was “Hound of the Baskervilles” here at Chapin, also directed by Glenn Farr! Nathan is extremely grateful to be working with Glenn again, as well as this incredibly talented cast and crew. He would like to thank them for making it such an enjoyable experience, and all their hard work in bringing this tale to life. Nathan would also like to thank his wife and children for their support, and, most of all, patience. Now pack your pipe, put on your deerstalker and pay close attention – the game’s afoot!
Tiffany Dinsmore (Co-costumer): As the Artistic Director of Chapin Theatre and the Director of CAPA (Chapin Academy of Performing Arts) she sometimes feels like the man twirling all the plates in the air on sticks. But she loves storytelling at the theatre and loves to see a story jump off the page, into the stage and into people’s hearts. While not at the theatre, she has the best job in the world - watching the sweetest, smartest and cutest granddaughter ever. In her spare time, wait - who are we kidding - she has no spare time. But she does love travel when she can squeeze it in.
Glenn Farr (Director) -This year, Glenn marks his 50th anniversary in local theatre. For the past 19 years, he’s also doubled as a director. His notable roles range from Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha to Captain Hook in Peter Pan. He’s helmed some of CTC’s most complex stagings, including Noises Off, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Hound of the Baskervilles. A retired newspaper/magazine writer/editor, he has published a trilogy of novels featuring the same group of characters, Favored Son, And So It Goes and Dear Brüder, and is writing a fourth installment under the working title, Better Days.
Dennis Kacsur (Homes 1/The Client) is happy to back on the Chapin Theatre stage as part of this great cast. Last seen as the corpse in Death by Design, this time he gets to play a character that survives. Thanks go to Glenn Farr for giving him these opportunities. A native of Pennsylvania, this “Damn Yankee” has been living in the Columbia area for almost 25 years helping to raise three daughters while teaching people how to boil water.
Bonnie Lyon (Stage Manager) has enjoyed working with this talented, hardworking, stellar director and cast. It has been inspiring to watch them collaborate to create the world of Holmes and Watson. When Bonnie is not working with theater, she is learning to be retired by tutoring grandchildren and helping transport them to their activities.
Gerald McWilliams (Watson) , a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, brings authentic quirk and heartfelt depth to every role. He is thrilled not only to return to Chapin Theatre Company's stage, but to bring to life a character from his first, favorite storyteller, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! From local, indie films like Tubi's suspense thriller, Dream Conspiracy, to fun, engaging plays and musicals like CTC's very own, A Seussified Christmas Carol and Disney's Mary Poppins, his work is infused with relatable humanity. A passionate blues harmonica musician, dedicated gardener, and avid gamer, his lively spirit adds a soulful rhythm to his performances.
Lonnie Owen (Orderly/Moriarty/Inspector) Will you enjoy Lonnie in his latest role(s) at Chapin Theatre? You will! You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! And both because of his terrible accents.
Simon Marchant (lights and Sound): Simon has worked on and off in the theatre behind the scenes since the 1980’s when his sister performed. He supported his son Gabriel is this same roll throughout his middle and high school years until he went away to college in 2018. At that time, he inherited the role thinking it would be temporary until a more suitable replacement was found - so much for that! Need to say a big thank you to my wonderful bride Brenda for putting up with nights alone at home and supporting me in this role and also Gabriel for still being there for me via phone or Facetime to help me when I need it Love to be part of this group!
David Reed (Dr. Evans)-- It's been over 3 years since David last appeared in a show. He's happy to be back here at CTC. He's grateful to veteran director Glenn Farr for casting and directing him. He's enjoying working with his talented cast and crew members. And he's thrilled that you came to this performance! He hopes you have a wonderful time. Thank you for supporting the Arts!
Jeff Sigley (Holmes #2) is excited to be returning to the Chapin Theatre Stage. He was last seen there in Death by Design (the inaugural show in the new theatre building). Jeff started his community theater career, 16 years ago when he was cast as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz at Village Square Theater in Lexington. It was there that he caught the theater bug and hasn’t stopped since. He has acted in most of the local theatres in the area with his last role being Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors at Town Theatre. Jeffs love of all things theatre led him to also direct, produce. stage manage, and costume numerous productions over the last 16 years. He will be directing Godspell at the newest theatre in town, Soda City Theatre Company in W. Cola , in March of next year.
Jami Steele Sprankle (Matron/The Woman) is excited to be on stage with this most excellent cast and thanks Glenn for the opportunity. Jami is an actor/director who most recently enjoyed directing Mary Poppins for Chapin Theatre Company. Onstage, she has had the pleasure of performing on both U.S. coasts as well as in Europe. Favorite roles include Shirley Talley in Fifth of July at the Warehouse Theatre, Abigail Adams in 1776 at Workshop Theatre, Alexandra Caffuffle in On the Verge at Piccolo Spoleto, Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables at Town Theatre and everything improv or Shakespeare! Love to my boy!
Sandy Steffen (Co-Costumer) is always happy to work on productions getting the actors what they need to present to you the best portrayal of their characters. She has worked all areas of theatrical productions over the past 40+ years for Chapin, Newberry Community Players and Newberry College. As always, we do it for you!!
Charles Zuber (Holmes 3/Signor Fonseca)is very happy and excited to be appearing in his first show at the Chapin theatre company. Charles appeared in his first show at the Ritz theatre in Newberry SC little over two years ago and has appeared in numerous shows since. Charles has been in shows with the Main Street players of Edgefield SC such as Four Old Broads , The Odd Couple ,and Four old Broads on the High Seas . Charles has also appeared in shows at the Village Square theatre such as The Odd Couple, 12 Angry Jurors,and most recently The Music Man Sr. Charles also had a small part in a Fisher Films production called Christmas Curtain Call in which he played Scrooge the movie was filmed at The Village Square theatre .Charles is also a musician and has appeared in many places in and around the Columbia area and is still working as a musician in a band called Backlash ,a band that was formed with people he met doing plays . Charles is very excited to be appearing with this wonderful cast in Holmes and Watson and looks forward to seeing you there!
